This includes strict requirements for brakes, parking brakes, load-bearing capacity, and child passenger safety. Additionally, our bikes are TüV tested and CE marked, certifying that they meet the highest safety standards. DIN 79010:2020, introduced in 2020 by the German Institute for Standardization, is the first standard to specify testing methods and safety requirements for both electric and non-electric cargo bikes. The standard covers both two-wheeled and multi-wheeled bikes designed for transporting goods and passengers. Unlike previous standards such as ISO 4210 and EN 15194, which primarily focused on lighter bicycles, DIN 79010 raises the permissible maximum weight to 250 kg for two-wheeled bikes and 300 kg for multi-wheeled bikes. Additionally, the standard includes specific requirements for braking systems, frame strength, child safety, and tests that simulate extreme stress, making it more suitable for the heavier loads that cargo bikes often carry.
