Maintenance Instructions for Cargobike

These maintenance guidelines are a prerequisite for the Seller’s warranty conditions to apply.

Neglected maintenance can pose a traffic hazard and cause the bike’s structure to weaken or age prematurely. However, if you take good care of your bike, it will bring you joy for many years.

Make it a habit to regularly check and tighten all screws, spokes, nuts, pedals, and crank arms. Adjust gears and brakes as needed. Any play in the wheel, crank, or head bearings – as well as between the hub and the frame (center bolt) – must be immediately addressed by a bicycle technician.

Also, ensure that your tires are well-inflated, as this results in lower friction, reduces the risk of punctures, and protects the rims. If the spokes feel loose or if the wheels emit a ticking sound, it’s time to have the spokes tensioned and/or the rim trued.

This procedure should always be performed within a few weeks of starting to use your new bike.

The bicycle should be stored in a rain-free environment. If this is not possible, use a cover or rain protection. In the event of paint damage on the frame or hub, it should be remedied immediately by painting with lacquer to prevent rust or moisture from taking hold.

A clean bike is easier to maintain. Additionally, the components on your bike work better and last longer if they are not covered with dirt, oil, road salt, mud, etc. Therefore, clean your bike regularly. When rinsing with a hose, avoid allowing water and cleaning agents to enter the bike’s bearings – such as pedals, crank bearings, hubs, and head bearings – since these agents dissolve the grease that the bearings need to function and to protect against rust.

After cleaning, it is very important to lubricate all moving parts (such as the chain, gears, cables, and pedal assembly). Clean and lubricate the chain as soon as necessary.

During winter, screw heads that may collect dirt and water also require regular lubrication. Keep in mind that all steel can rust and wood can swell! Once again, we remind you that winter storage should be in a rain-free area or under a protective cover.

If the effectiveness of the hand brakes decreases, this may indicate that the brake pads are very worn or that the hydraulic brakes need bleeding. Replace the pads and bleed the brakes.

The battery for an electric bike must not be exposed to extreme heat or moisture for extended periods. When the bike is not in use, the battery should be stored in a dry, cool place. If the battery is not used for an extended period, a maintenance charge of about 2 hours per month should be performed.

NOTE!

Remember to ride with care. Severe impacts – such as curbs, bumps, or uneven surfaces – can be devastating if you ride recklessly. Repeatedly riding at high speeds over edges and bumps can weaken the frame. This also applies to overloading. (Maximum load in the hub: 100 kg plus a rider of approximately 100 kg.)

The bike is designed for normal city riding and is not an off-road vehicle.
